Job summary

S:US is seeking a Supervisor of Social Services for their families with children shelters in the Bronx. The role oversees the clinical unit, supervising case managers, vocational staff, and a housing specialist, while coordinating client services and policy implementation.

Requirements include an LCSW and a Master’s in Social Work, with at least three years of supervisory experience and trauma-informed care expertise. On-site work at Echo Place Bronx is expected.

Qualifications

  • LCSW required (Licensed Clinical Social Worker).
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
  • Three years supervisory/managerial experience.
  • Experience in mental health, child welfare, child development, or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of psychodynamics, group work, case work, health systems and human and child development.
  • Experience working with trauma and trauma-informed care.
  • Ability to supervise staff and promote team building, with strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the clinical unit and supervise case managers, vocational case manager, and housing specialist.
  • Coordinate client services, develop and implement policies and procedures, and set goals with the Program Director.
  • Monitor funding/licensing agency services and collaborate with the Program Director.
  • Promote staff development and team building within the multidisciplinary shelter team.

Position Overview

S:US Is seeking a Supervisor of Social Services for their families with children shelters in the Bronx.

This position is located at Echo Place Bronx, NY 10457

Schedule: Monday-Friday 9a-5p, with flexibility and on-call.

Scope of role:

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Supervisor of Social Services is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the clinical unit, which includes case managers, vocational case manager and housing specialist. The supervisor is responsible for the coordination of client services, developing and implementing policies and procedures, establishing goals and objectives and working closely with Program Director in planning, implementing and monitoring HRA and other funding/licensing agency services. The supervisor of social services actively promotes staff development and team building.

Role Model: Helps to shape the vision of the shelter by working with the multidisciplinary team to accomplish nutritional objectives.

Job Requirements
  • LCSW Required (Licensed Clinical Social Worker)
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited institution with a major in social work
  • Three years supervisory/managerial experience
  • Work experience in the fields of mental health, child welfare, child development, or other related fields.
  • Strong working knowledge of psychodynamics, group work, case work, health systems and human and child development.
  • Experience working with trauma and understand Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder as well as trauma informed care.
  • Must have ability to supervise staff and promote team building, good problem-solving skills, good written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • English/Spanish speaking preferred
