  • Supervise daily operations and activities of the prior authorization and pre-arrival team.

  • Monitor compliance with laws, regulations, payer requirements, Joint Commission standards, and health system policies.
  • Assist management with recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of team members; support retention initiatives.

Job description


  • Supervise and guide daily operations, responsibilities, and activities of the prior authorization and pre-arrival team

  • Review daily operational reports to prioritize and distribute work, ensuring timely workflow and exceptional customer service

  • Review and research elevated issues and work with stakeholders to resolve them efficiently

  • Monitor staff compliance with applicable laws, regulations, payer requirements, Joint Commission standards, and health system policies

  • Report non-compliance issues to management for input and resolution

  • Assist management with recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of team members

  • Support staff retention initiatives

  • Coordinate daily schedules to maintain work-unit coverage and monitor overtime against the authorized budget

  • Assist with annual performance reviews and conduct employee reviews as requested

  • Make independent decisions involving non-routine problems under general supervision

  • Directly supervise staff and prepare and give performance evaluations

  • Work with patients, customers, healthcare professionals, and staff by telephone or face-to-face


Requirements


  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Associate’s Degree in a healthcare-related field preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience

  • Excellent communication, telephone, customer relations, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work and lead staff in a fast-paced environment

  • Working knowledge of regulatory and accrediting agency requirements

  • Knowledge of payer requirements for area of responsibility

  • Working knowledge of online computer systems/applications

  • Ability to perform telephone activities concurrently with computer activities

  • Demonstrated and working knowledge of medical terminology

  • Working knowledge of basic business office equipment

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively and efficiently

  • No licensure, registration, or certification required

  • Must live within commuting distance to Tulsa, OK
