Summary: Under the general supervision of a nursing administrator, the incumbent coordinates, directs, implements, and recommends systems, methods, and procedures for delivering nursing care. This involves collaboration with nursing and hospital administrative staff to ensure standards of practice, departmental philosophy, and hospital objectives are met. Administrative supervision is exercised over multiple nursing units within the primary areas of responsibility. Responsibilities include operational activities on a 24/7 basis. Supervision and training are provided by professional nurses and support staff.
License, Certification, and Registration: Possession of a valid license and current registration issued by the New York State Education Department as a Registered Nurse.
Training and Experience: Either: (a) five years of nursing experience in a hospital or healthcare facility, two of which must be at a leadership level; or (b) a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing, and four years of nursing experience in a hospital or healthcare facility, two of which must be at a leadership level.
