Position: Supervisor, Maintenance

Department: Finance & Administrative Services

Type of Position: Full-time Hourly

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule, Hours per week: Tuesday through Friday, 6:00am to 4:30pm, 40 hours per week

Opportunity for hybrid schedule: No

Starting Salary Range: $31.00-$40.51, determined based on relevant years of work experience provided on application and resume.

Position Summary

Oversee a team of electricians, plumbers, and contractors for the installation, repair, and maintenance of all electrical and plumbing work for Johnson County Community College (JCCC).

Required Qualifications

• Manages the activities of supervisors and/or individual contributors.
• Responsible for hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews.
• Broad knowledge of the field with demonstrated leadership skills.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record to be insured to operate college vehicles.

Position details

• Supervise Electrical and Plumbing staff and external contractors to determine appropriate scheduling, coach employees on performance standards, and ensure proper procedures are followed to assure safety.
• Manage and track work orders and project timelines.
• Develop and maintain a preventive maintenance program and ensure compliance with all state/city inspections or certifications.
• Ensure backflow systems, generators, elevators, lifts, building fire sprinklers, and other plumbing or electrical systems are in working order.
• Manage, update, and maintain the electrical and plumbing infrastructure.
• Implement and maintain best practices and procedures for campus standards on Plumbing and Electrical staff.
• Formulate project cost estimates and specifications for repair and maintenance involving Electrical and Plumbing.
• Maintain and administer campus guidelines and service standards for Electrical and Plumbing.
• Supervise and assist other trade areas as needed and act as a lead role in snow removal.
• Respond to emergencies during or after hours.
