Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to oversee daily operations, ensuring accurate testing for diagnosis and treatment. The supervisor will recommend improvements and action plans to optimize processes within the laboratory section and area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or closely related field is required.
• ASCP certification or equivalent certification is required (AMT/AAB accepted).
• 3 years of clinical experience in a hospital setting is required.
• Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• The supervisor provides direct supervision of the daily operations of the laboratory section and/or area.
• Oversee and efficiently perform procedures and tests as ordered for diagnosis and treatment of disease.
• Maintain analyzers and quality control; collect specimens; manage supplies per standards of practice and policy.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree from a recognized college or university in Medical Technology or a closely related field is Required
• Other bachelor's degrees will be accepted if graduated from an accredited school and science and math coursework meet requirement of certifying agency. Bachelor's degree may be waived for a medical technologist who was ASCP certified in the years prior to the bachelor's degree requirements by ASCP and a HEW/HSS technologist certified by Health and Human Services.

Work Experience

• 3 years of clinical experience preferably in an acute care hospital setting. Required
• Demonstrated clinical competency in the specialty area applying for Required
• Previous supervisory experience Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Management of Clinical Laboratory only: Certification in medical technology; certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) . AAB provisional certification not accepted Required
