Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Manager to oversee the Laboratory’s departmental operations under the direction of the Director. You will perform administrative duties, ensure point-of-care testing compliance, and coordinate with offsite areas to maintain quality and patient safety.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Medical Technology or related field, a Master’s in Healthcare Administration preferred, 5 years of clinical experience with supervisory responsibilities, and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or closely related field is required (from the Education section).
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or Health Administration is preferred (from Education).
  • 5 years of clinical experience with at least two years in supervisory responsibilities (from Work Experience).
  • Certification in medical technology and certification by ASCP/AMT/AAB is required for Clinical Laboratory management; HT/HTL/CT certs for Anatomic Pathology are required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee departmental operations of the Laboratory under the direction of the Director.
  • Ensure oversight and compliance of point of care testing and affiliated offsite areas.
  • Monitor operations to maintain safe, efficient and quality performance standards for staff and patients.
  • Coordinate with nursing, administrative, medical, and other staff to support patient care and identify system improvement opportunities.

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized college or university in Medical Technology or a closely related field is Required
  • Master’s degree of Business Administration or Health Administration is Preferred
Work Experience
  • 5 years of clinical experience, including at least two (2) years with supervisory responsibilities, preferably in an acute care hospital setting is Required
  • Demonstrated clinical competency in the specialty area applying for Required
Licenses and Certifications
  • Management of Clinical Laboratory only: Certification in medical technology; certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) . AAB provisional certification not accepted Required
  • Management of Anatomic Pathology (Cytology/Histology): Certification in histology; certification as a Histotechnologist HTL, Histotechnician HT and/or Cytologist CT by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Required
