Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Department leader to direct strategic and operational goals in collaboration with the Medical Director and clinical stakeholders. You will oversee day-to-day administration, policy development, and regulatory compliance to ensure high-quality patient care.

The role requires 5+ years of clinical and leadership experience, MT certification (ASCP/AMT/AAB), and a master’s in healthcare administration preferred for strategic growth and organizational

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related science required; or Associates and 7 years of MT experience.
• 5 years of clinical experience with progressive leadership experience required.
• Certification as MT/ASCP/AMT/AAB; AAB provisional certification not accepted required.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs and monitors strategic and tactical goals for the Laboratory Department with Medical Director and stakeholders.
• Directs day-to-day administrative aspects including financial, operational and HR issues.
• Develops and approves technical/operational policies; ensures regulatory/accrediting compliance.
• Creates an efficient, accountable team environment with staff and customers (physicians, nursing, outreach clinics).
• Ensures highest standards of patient safety and quality.

Responsibilities

Plans, directs and monitors strategic and tactical goals for the Laboratory Department in collaboration with the Medical Director and other clinical and operational stakeholders involved in the management of hospital laboratory services. Directs, monitors and manages all day-to-day administrative aspects of the department, including financial, operational and human resource issues. Develops and approves technical and operational policies and procedures, and ensures compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies. Creates a highly efficient, accountable, and collaborative team environment with staff and with customers (physicians, nursing, and outreach clinics). Responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and quality are followed and maintained.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, or other acceptable science from a recognized college or university. Required or
• In Lieu of Bachelor's degree, Associates in Medical Technology and 7 years of Medical Technologist experience Required
• Master’s degree in Business Administration or Health Administration Preferred

Work Experience

• 5 years clinical experience and progressive leadership experience Required

Licenses and Certifications

• Certification in medical technology; certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts). AAB provisional certification not accepted Required
