Responsibilities
- Supervise patient accounting operations, ensuring timely, accurate, compliant billing and cash management to optimize reimbursements and reduce receivables, in accordance with GAAP.
- Manage departmental budget and staffing within authorized limits.
- Identify employee training needs and coordinate with training departments for staff development.
- Implement system and process improvements, pursuing innovative techniques and maintaining quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant billing and collection regulations and stay updated on regulatory changes, implementing necessary adjustments.
- Act as liaison with providers, external departments, and insurance payors to resolve discrepancies, minimize receivables, and control bad debt.
- Evaluate and improve billing policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and performance.
- Maintain productivity and quality standards, reinforcing them with staff.
- Handle HR responsibilities including coaching, performance reviews, morale, and engagement. Make staffing and disciplinary recommendations.
- Adhere to the Advocate Aurora Health Care Code of Ethical Conduct and ensure team compliance with policies, laws, and regulations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- 3-5 years of healthcare billing experience, including patient accounts, billing, or collections across various payers.
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a billing or accounts receivable setting, with proven team management skills.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, compliance standards, and familiarity with billing software and EHR systems.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Teams.
- Strong communication skills for training and collaboration.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of revenue cycle processes and healthcare billing practices.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and lead process improvements.
- Basic understanding of business, finance, and human resource management.
