This position is part of the Line Maintenance Team within the Integrated Operations Division. You will oversee aircraft maintenance technicians in repairing and returning American Airlines' aircraft to service. Supervisors are frontline leaders responsible for the safe, compliant, and timely return to service of our aircraft. You will manage workload, resources, and work relationships with internal customers, support groups, external regulatory authorities, and vendors.

What you'll do
  • Guide and direct terminal and/or hangar aircraft maintenance through crew chiefs and leads
  • Oversee implementation of organizational plans, processes, policies, and procedures
  • Ensure crews are efficiently utilized to accomplish workload
  • Meet company objectives in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Maintain effective communication flow to the workforce
  • Build and maintain work relationships with airport management, FAA, TSA, other government agencies, suppliers, and similar groups
  • Collaborate with other supervisors to achieve directives and objectives
  • Identify and take steps to correct unsatisfactory results
  • Identify training and development needs of aircraft maintenance technicians
  • Provide effective feedback for coaching and development
  • Work effectively with union leadership and workforce
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 3 to 4 years of aircraft maintenance experience
  • Ability to pass FAA criminal background checks for unescorted access privileges to airport security areas
  • Ability to secure necessary airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, if applicable
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in business or technical field, or equivalent work experience
  • 2 years of management experience in maintenance or production environments
  • 3 years of hands-on experience in repair or manufacturing of large transport aircraft
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Leadership skills to supervise management, non-management, and contract labor groups
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities concurrently
  • Strong interpersonal and PC skills
