Job summary

Construction Irish - USA in New York seeks a Superintendent for ground-up and core & shell projects. You will lead daily field operations on mid-rise multifamily and mixed-use sites across NYC/NJ, owning the site with the project manager and directing trades to maintain schedule and quality.

This role requires NYC licensure, SST and OSHA 30, and prior delivery of ground-up or shell work. You must read drawings, adhere to DOB requirements, and keep work moving on a live site without relying on

Responsibilities

• Protect quality and schedule in the dirt; fix problems on the day they occur.
• Hold the job to drawings, specs, and DOB; inspections pass because the work is right, not paperwork.
• Work with the project manager; you run the building, they run the contract.

$190,000 – $280,000 for the right person

A New York general contractor is hiring a Superintendent who can build a building. Ground-up and core & shell. Mid-rise multifamily and mixed-use in New York / New Jersey. This is not a tenant fit-out seat.

THE WORK

New buildings: structure, envelope, and base building systems. You own the site with the PM. Occupied-adjacent logistics, DOB, and a job that has to stand up and take tenants later.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Run daily field operations from start-up through structure, envelope, and core & shell turnover

- Direct trades on a live NYC / NJ site — labor, material, sequencing, and the look-ahead

- Protect quality and schedule in the dirt. Problems get fixed the day they show up

- Hold the job to drawings, specs, and DOB. Inspections pass because the work is right, not because paperwork is pretty

- Work as a pair with the project manager. You run the building. They run the contract.

WHO THIS IS FOR

- Superintendent with a GC who has already delivered ground-up and/or core & shell — not only interiors inside someone else’s shell

- NYC license is required. Site Safety Manager or Site Safety Coordinator, plus SST and OSHA 30. Put the license number on the resume

- Mid-rise multifamily or mixed-use is the work. You have stood in that building type and were not lost

- You read the drawings. You know what the structure and skin are supposed to look like before they get covered up

WHO THIS IS NOT

- Interiors / TI superintendent with no ground-up or core & shell

- Unlicensed field guy hoping the GC will carry the DOB ticket

- CM / owner’s-rep only. No GC field time

- First-time assistant who has never owned a deck

PAY

Base $190,000–$280,000. The top of that range is for a licensed superintendent who has already built buildings at this scale in New York. Do not apply if you need the number to be $280k and the resume is interiors.
