Job summary

GH Engage is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to take ownership of field operations on ground-up projects in the NYC metro. You will oversee the site from mobilization through closeout, coordinating with Project Executives, PMs, subcontractors, architects, and ownership to keep projects on schedule and within budget.

The ideal candidate has a GC background with 10+ years in ground-up multifamily or commercial work in NYC and can lead a multi-trade field team while prioritizing

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years' experience as a Superintendent on ground-up projects valued at $15M+.
• GC background required—developer-side experience not considered.
• Proven ground-up multifamily/commercial project delivery in NYC metro.
• BS or MS in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience.
• Strong understanding of NYC construction operations, logistics and code requirements.
• Working knowledge of Procore, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead a multi-trade site team.

Responsibilities

• Direct day-to-day coordination of subcontractors to ensure quality work aligned with the project schedule.
• Develop, document and communicate field work plans and changes.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of contract documents to plan ahead and anticipate issues before they arise.
• Verify subcontractors obtain all necessary permits for construction activities.
• Act as primary safety representative on-site and enforce quality control policies.
• Create, manage and update the project schedule; develop contingency plans as needed.
• Communicate schedule status, updates and changes to the project team and trade contractors.
• Plan, coordinate and manage jobsite logistics.
• Lead regular contractor meetings and resolve jurisdictional disputes.
• Establish credibility among owners, trade contractors and unions through a fair, trustworthy site environment.

We are partnering with an established NYC Metro General Contractor with a long-standing track record delivering ground-up multifamily, commercial, and institutional projects throughout New York City and the surrounding metro area.

With a strong pipeline of upcoming work, they are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to take ownership of field operations on ground-up projects from mobilization through closeout.

This role is ideal for a hands-on field leader from a General Contractor background who has run ground-up projects cradle to grave and is comfortable owning the site from day one.

The successful candidate will act as the primary field authority on-site, working closely with Project Executives, Project Managers, subcontractors, architects, and ownership to keep projects on schedule, on budget, and to spec in demanding NYC job-site conditions.

• General Contractor (GC) background required — developer-side experience alone will not be considered
• Proven experience delivering ground-up multifamily and/or commercial projects in the NYC metro market
• BS or MS in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience
• Strong understanding of NYC construction operations, logistics and code requirements
• Working knowledge of Procore, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and lead a multi-trade site team
