Job summary

Insight Global's client is seeking a polished Construction Superintendent / Owner's Representative to oversee commercial vertical construction projects across the Hampton Roads area. You will act as the owner's on-site representative, coordinating the General Contractor, monitoring progress, and ensuring quality and safety standards are met while providing regular updates to internal leadership.

Qualifications

• 7-10+ years of construction experience with at least 2-4 years as a Superintendent.
• Experience supporting commercial vertical construction projects (office, multifamily, mixed-use, retail).
• Experience working for a commercial General Contractor (GC).
• Strong understanding of means and methods, scheduling, quality control, and site safety.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary field representative for ownership throughout project execution.
• Manage and oversee the General Contractor to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget.
• Monitor progress, ensure safety standards, and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders.
• Identify risks and proactively resolve issues impacting schedule, budget, or quality.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and local codes.

7-10+ years of construction experience with at least 2-4 years serving as a Superintendent. Experience supporting commercial vertical construction projects (office, multifamily, mixed-use, retail, etc.). Experience working for a commercial General Contractor (GC). Strong understanding of construction means and methods, scheduling, quality control, and site safety. Ability to oversee and manage third-party contractors and subcontractors on behalf of an owner/developer. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients, contractors, architects, and internal leadership. Comfortable performing frequent site visits and working in an active construction environment. Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the Hampton Roads region.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field. Experience serving in an Owner's Representative or development-focused construction role. Experience reviewing budgets, bids, schedules, change orders, and project documentation. Experience coordinating permitting, inspections, and regulatory approvals. Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Relationships and experience within the Hampton Roads commercial construction market.
