Job summary

Insight Global's client is seeking an experienced General Superintendent to oversee field operations across multiple large-scale commercial construction projects throughout the Hampton Roads region.

This individual will serve as a senior field leader responsible for driving project execution, mentoring Superintendents, maintaining safety and quality standards, and ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of commercial construction experience.
• 5+ years as a General Superintendent overseeing multiple projects.
• Experience mentoring Superintendents and field leaders.
• Experience overseeing projects valued $10M-$50M+.
• Experience coordinating with Project Managers, Owners, Architects, and Subcontractors.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for multiple Superintendents across several active construction projects.
• Manage manpower planning, workforce allocation, and field productivity across projects.
• Conduct regular jobsite visits to ensure safety, quality, schedule, and company standards.
• Mentor, coach, and develop Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, and field personnel.
• Review project schedules and proactively identify potential delays or challenges.
• Partner with Project Managers and Operations Leadership to drive successful project outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards.
• Participate in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and workforce development initiatives.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, clients, inspectors, subcontractors, architects, and engineers.
• Support operational planning and forecasting efforts for upcoming projects.

Job description

• 10+ years of commercial construction experience.
• 5+ years of experience as a General Superintendent overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience directly managing and mentoring Superintendents and field leadership teams.
• Experience overseeing large-scale commercial vertical construction projects valued between $10M-$50M+.
• Experience managing field operations across multiple active job sites simultaneously.
• Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, scheduling, manpower planning, and project execution.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, contracts, and project schedules.
• Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Experience coordinating with Project Managers, Operations Leadership, Owners, Architects, Engineers, and Subcontractors.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience working for established commercial builders (regional/national contractors).
• OSHA 30 Certification.
• First Aid/CPR Certification.
• Experience with Procore, HCSS, or other construction management software.
• Experience with higher education, municipal, recreation, industrial, or specialty commercial projects.
