Job summary

WSP USA hires a Summer 2027 Structures Intern to work out of our Valhalla, NY office. This temporary internship is for students currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program, with rising junior or senior status.

The 12-week program begins May 17, 2027. Interns assist with field work, preliminary design calculations, documentation, and cost estimates while learning fundamentals of structural engineering and adhering to WSP's Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

• Current standing as a rising junior or senior enrolled in ABET-accredited Civil Engineering undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date September 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Structural Engineering of Transportation Structures.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with engineers and non-engineering audiences.
• Capable of taking directions from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, and tools.
• Authorized to work in the United States at internship start.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Structural Engineering.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
