Job summary

A community support organization is seeking a dedicated Summer Aide to work at their main campus in Sewickley, PA. The Summer Aide will assist the Summer Program Teacher in providing care and services to physically and mentally challenged students. Responsibilities include implementing goal plans, ensuring a safe environment, and providing personal care. This temporary, hourly position offers valuable experience in a supportive educational setting with a focus on fostering independence and skill development.

Qualifications

  • Experience assisting students with disabilities in a supportive environment.
  • Ability to implement behavioral and goal plans effectively.
  • Strong observational skills to report student behavior accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Summer Program Teacher in providing care and services.
  • Implement goal objective plans and ensure a safe environment for students.
  • Provide personal care and escort services for students.
  • Observing the student’s behavior and reporting it accurately.
  • Performing needed housekeeping duties.
  • Providing escort services for students utilizing community resources.
  • Providing personal care for the students.
  • Performing other job related duties as required

Job description

Verland is now accepting applications for a Summer Aide to join the team at our Main Campus in Sewickley, PA. A Summer Aide assists the Summer Program Teacher in providing both direct care and programmatic services for physically and mentally challenged students attending the Verland summer school program. The Summer Aide provides specialized care in the areas of perception, self-direction, adapted living skills, social skills, sensorimotor and communication. This is a temporary, hourly, non-exempt position.

Shift Available

Full Time - 8am - 2:30pm Monday thru Friday (June - August)

Contributions
  • Implementation of goal objective plans and procedural goal objectives;
  • Providing a safe and clean environment for the students;
  • Using behavioral principles to foster maximum independence (social role valorization);
  • Observing the student’s behavior and reporting it accurately;
  • Performing needed housekeeping duties;
  • Providing escort services for students utilizing community resources;
  • Providing personal care for the students;
  • Performing other job related duties as required
