Job summary

The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is excited to announce the Summer 2027 Nurse Extern Cohort for BSN students. This externship is a summer employment opportunity designed to strengthen nursing knowledge through supervised clinical practice.

As a Nurse Extern, you will work in an assigned unit caring for patients under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, and you will participate in weekly classroom sessions with Nurse Educators, including discussion groups and skill workshops

Qualifications

• Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA or better in their BSN program.
• Must have completed the Nursing Foundations/ Fundamentals Clinical Course.
• Must be a rising senior (summer between junior and senior years).
• Must have current BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
• Must be available for all times/shifts and working weekends.

Responsibilities

• Work in an assigned unit caring for patients under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Spend weekly classroom time with Nurse Educators in discussion groups and skill workshops.
• Bridge classroom learning with real-world clinical experiences.
