Children’s Mercy is offering Summer Nurse Extern opportunities for students enrolled in ADN/BSN programs. Externs will work under a RN preceptor, gain direct patient care experience, attend education sessions, and observe in specialty areas.

The program emphasizes safety, inclusion, and a commitment to compassionate care, with onsite roles and opportunities to complete a meaningful project benefiting the unit.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent and enrollment in ADN/BSN program.
• Completion of at least one clinical rotation.
• On-the-job training or no prior experience accepted.

Responsabilités

• Provides patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Attends classroom sessions and prepares/presents an education or quality project.
• Observes in specialty areas of choice.
• Maintains a safe environment and promotes efficiency of operations.
