Advocate Health is seeking a Nurse Extern/Assistant to support patients with daily living activities and hygiene, take vitals, and assist with feeding and ambulation. You will maintain clean rooms, observe changes, and guide families about safety on the unit.

The role involves clerical work, inventory maintenance, and basic clinical tasks including ECG and venipuncture, under nursing supervision. English proficiency and safety training are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Currently in a Registered Nurse academic program in good standing is required.
• Completion of Junior year or equivalent for Nurse Extern program is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Assist patients with personal hygiene.
• Take vital signs and height/weight measurements.
• Feed and ambulate patients per procedures.
• Maintain clean and orderly patient rooms.
• Observe and report changes in patient conditions.
• Orient patients and families to unit and safety.
• Assist with clerical tasks and data entry.
• Maintain stock items in inventory.
• Perform Nurse Aide I/II tasks per state lists.
• Perform ECG and venipuncture as trained.
