Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Nurse Extern to support patient care on a clinical unit in Charlotte, NC. You will assist with daily living activities, monitor vital signs, and help maintain clean, safe patient environments.

The role requires enrollment in an RN program, a current DFS Nurse Aide I/II registry, and a cleansheet BLS certification. You will also perform ECGs and venipuncture as trained.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Currently in good standing in a Registered Nurse academic program is required.
• Successful completion of Junior year or equivalent at the Nurse Extern program is required.
• Current listing with the DFS Nurse Aide Registry as a Nurse Aide I and Nurse Aide II prior to start date required.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Assists with activities of daily living for patients/residents.
• Supports personal hygiene of patients/residents.
• Takes vital signs and height/weight measurements.
• Feeds and ambulates patients/residents per procedures.
• Keeps patient/resident rooms clean and orderly.
• Observes and reports changes in patient/resident conditions.
• Orients patients/families to unit and instructs on safety measures.
• Assists with clerical work including answering phones, data entry, and maintaining medical records.
• Maintains stock in inventory of supplies.
• Performs Nurse Aide I/II tasks per state Nurse Aide I/II scope.
• Performs ECGs and routine venipuncture with appropriate training.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Currently in good standing in Registered Nurse academic program

Nurse Aide I and Nurse Aide II registry listing (DFS)

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification
