Job summary

Southworth International Group (SIGI) in Falmouth, ME offers a Summer 2027 Engineering Intern - Mechanical. You’ll gain hands-on CAD experience with SolidWorks, work on design and process projects, and learn modeling practices and CSWA/CSWP exam prep funded by SIGI.

Full-time summer internship located in SIGI's Falmouth, ME office. You’ll collaborate with engineers, tackle various mechanical design tasks, and participate in weekly intern check-ins to track progress.

Qualifications

• Majoring in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent
• Completed a minimum of two years of engineering curriculum and ideally a GPA of 3.0
• Experience with SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD; understand CAD vaults and file management (e.g., EPDM)
• Windows 11 and Microsoft Excel are required
• Able to stay organized while working on multiple projects

Responsibilities

• Design and process improvement projects over the summer
• CAD modeling, drafting, design calculations, FEA analysis, data analysis
• Help expand and improve SIGI’s CAD vault and support design changes
• Work closely with senior engineers and report to Intern Supervisor
• Potentially work on customer orders with guidance
• Present projects to engineering department and executive team at summer's end
