Job summary

Southworth International Group in Maine is offering a Summer 2027 Engineering Internship - Electrical. The role introduces you to our products, SolidWorks, and PDM; you will build modeling skills and complete structured tutorials, with CSWA/CSWP exams paid for by SIGI.

Hours are 30-40 per week, starting May 10, 2027, at our Falmouth, ME facility. You gain hands-on experience in electrical design, CAD vault expansion, and collaboration with senior engineers.

Qualifications

• Majoring in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent engineering degree.
• Completed a minimum of two years of engineering curriculum and core courses with GPA around 3.0 or higher.
• Experience with SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD; understanding CAD vaults, revision control, and file management (EPDM).
• Windows 11 and Microsoft Office skills required, especially Excel.
• Ability to stay organized while juggling multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Over the summer, you will be assigned several design and process improvement projects.
• Key skills: CAD modeling, drafting, design calculations, data analysis, organization techniques, and communication.
• Assist in expanding SIGI’s CAD vault and support detailing for engineers and manufacturing.
• Work with senior engineers and the Intern Supervisor for guidance and development.
• Opportunity to contribute to customer orders with support from a senior engineer.
• At the end of the summer, present projects to the engineering department and executive team.
