Job summary

Southworth International Group in Falmouth, ME offers a 2027 Summer Engineering Internship in Mechanical. You will be introduced to our products, develop SolidWorks skills, and work on design projects under an Intern Supervisor.

The program emphasizes CAD modeling, drafting, and analysis; you'll expand SIGI’s CAD vault, learn time management, and may pursue CSWA/CSWP certification paid by SIGI. Starting May 10, 2027, 30–40 hours/week.

Qualifications

• Majoring in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• Completed a minimum of two years of engineering curriculum with core courses.
• Experience with SolidWorks and basic CAD vaults, file management.
• Proficiency in Windows 11 and Excel, Office suite.
• Ability to stay organized while handling multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Undertake design and process improvement projects over the summer.
• Perform CAD modeling, drafting, design calculations, and basic FEA.
• Assist in expanding and maintaining SIGI’s CAD vault and drawings.
• Support engineers and manufacturing with design changes.
• Present completed projects to engineering leadership at end of summer.
