Job summary

Charter Manufacturing is seeking a Maintenance Mechanical Engineering Intern to gain hands-on experience using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office while supporting real-world maintenance and engineering projects.

You'll build project management, problem-solving, and collaboration skills while learning to work both independently and as part of a team during a full-time summer schedule in Saukville, Wisconsin, starting May 2027.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a four-year degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
• GPA of 2.75 or higher.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Advanced Excel/analyst skills; AutoCAD; Lean manufacturing exposure.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Maintenance Mechanical Engineer on hands-on engineering projects throughout the processing plant.
• Support machine design and equipment upgrades, including part design and plant layout improvements.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance plant operations, safety, and efficiency.
• Incorporate safety and environmental considerations into equipment and process designs.
• Collaborate with engineers and maintenance teams to support projects from design through implementation.
