Job summary

IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Freeport, ME to work with experienced engineers on mechanical systems for commercial, industrial, and educational facilities. The 10-12 week summer program includes hands-on project work, design support, and documentation obligations.

You will assist with project design, coordination with cross-functional teams, and job site observations while respecting project budgets.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years towards a BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong interest in design consulting and proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Skilled in AutoCAD and BIM; ability to communicate clearly in writing and speaking.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design portions of mechanical-system projects per IMEG standards.
• Research commercially available equipment resources.
• Document design decisions and client instructions; support cross-functional coordination.
• Coordinate design and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, tech, clerical, and supplier disciplines.
• Conduct periodic job site observations and monitor progress; help prepare addendum information.
