Job summary

IMEG in Freeport, ME is offering a Summer 2027 Electrical Engineering Intern position. You will work with experienced engineers on electrical systems in buildings, supporting design portions, documentation, and site observations during a 10-12 week program.

You'll gain hands-on exposure to CAD/BIM tools such as AutoCAD and Revit, collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, and learn through mentorship while contributing to project delivery in a 100% employee-owned firm.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years towards a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Exposure to CAD or BIM software is expected.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Clear oral and written communication with individuals or groups.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design portions of electrical system projects in accordance with code and IMEG standards.
• Assist with researching commercially available equipment resources.
• Assist with client relations, project notebooks, and documentation for permanent records.
• Coordinate design and schedules with disciplines across teams.
• Document design decisions and meetings while monitoring progress.
• Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before final checks.
• Prepare and issue addendum information.
• Conduct periodic job site observations and other contract-required services.
