Job summary

State-of-Missour is seeking a Maintenance Intern to provide operational support for the roadway maintenance program under direct supervision. This role involves assisting with policy development, report preparation, and field inspections at our Chesterfield, MO location.

The intern will gain exposure to highway maintenance operations, bridge inspections, and project planning while supporting district staff in day-to-day activities.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a relevant bachelor's or post-bachelor's degree program; for engineering candidates, ABET-accredited.
• Must have an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
• Must have completed at least 30 credit hours.

Responsibilities

• Support maintenance staff in developing and revising maintenance policies and procedures.
• Assist in analysis and preparation of maintenance reports, correspondence, records, and presentations.
• Inspect field operations, work zones, buildings, networks, and road conditions, and draft related recommendations and reports.
• Support the bridge inspection program as needed.
• Assist in preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates for roadway maintenance contracts.
• Evaluate and review district maintenance activities for policy conformity.
• Prepare damage survey summaries for FHWA and FEMA reimbursement.
• Prepare preventative maintenance plans and cost reports for federally eligible work to FHWA.
• Perform quality assurance reviews on federally eligible maintenance work.
• Perform other responsibilities as required or assigned.

• Supports the preparation of preventative maintenance plans and cost reports for federally eligible maintenance work to FHWA.
• Performs quality assurance reviews on federally eligible maintenance work.
• Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a relevant bachelor's or post-bachelor's degree program; for engineering candidates, program must be ABET-accredited.
• Must possess, and maintain, an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher out of 4.0.
• Must have completed at least 30 credit hours.
