Job summary

The State of Missouri, MoDOT’s St. Louis District Office, is seeking a Maintenance Intern to provide operational support in roadway maintenance program management under close supervision.

You will assist in policy development, analysis, reporting, inspections, and preparation of plans and cost estimates while gaining hands-on experience in a large highway system.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a relevant bachelor's or post-bachelor's degree program.
• ABET accreditation for engineering candidates (if applicable).
• GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
• At least 30 credit hours completed.

Responsibilities

• Support maintenance staff in developing and revising maintenance policies and guidelines.
• Assist in analysis and preparation of maintenance reports, correspondence, records, and presentations.
• Inspect field operations, work zones, buildings, networks, and road conditions; assist in related reports.
• Supports the bridge inspection program, as needed.
• Supports preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates for roadway maintenance contracts.
• Assist in evaluation and review of district maintenance activities for policy conformity.
• Assist in damage survey summaries for FHWA disaster reimbursements.
• Support preventative maintenance plans and cost reports for FHWA-funded work.
• Perform quality assurance reviews on federally eligible maintenance work.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.

• Inspect Field operations, work zones, buildings, communications networks, and road conditions, and assists in the preparation of related recommendations, correspondence, and reports.
• Supports the bridge inspection program, as needed.
• Supports the preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates for roadway maintenance contracts.
• Assists in the evaluation and review of district maintenance activities to ensure conformity with department policies.
• Supports the preparation of damage survey summary reports for disaster reimbursement to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Federal Emergency Management Agency.
• Supports the preparation of preventative maintenance plans and cost reports for federally eligible maintenance work to FHWA.
• Performs quality assurance reviews on federally eligible maintenance work.
• Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

All you need for success:

• Must be enrolled in a relevant bachelor's or post-bachelor's degree program; for engineering candidates, program must be ABET-accredited.
• Must possess, and maintain, an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher out of 4.0.
• Must have completed at least 30 credit hours.
