Qualifications

• Overall GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
• Must have completed at least 30 credit hours.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and issues permits to utility companies, contractors, developers, governmental entities, or individuals for work on department right of way with project specs.
• Meets with contractors, developers, governmental entities, individuals, and utility companies to explain procedures and policies on permits.
• Reviews and approves proposed plans for construction on department right of way for feasibility (drainage, sight distance, landscaping, curbing, traffic flow) and coordinates with other district departments.
• Reviews work zone requests and approves or restricts activity based on traffic and community impact.
• Conducts field inspections of projects and work zones, and measures traffic control devices to ensure standards are met.

• Meets with contractors, developers, governmental entities, individuals, and utility companies to explain procedures and department policies on granting permits.
• Reviews and approves proposed plans for construction on department right of way for feasibility with regard to drainage, sight distance, landscaping, curbing, traffic flow, and related requirements; makes recommendations for modification; may coordinate permit work with other district departments.
• Reviews work zone requests an approves or restricts work zone activity based on the impact to traffic and the community.
• Conducts field inspections of projects and work zones, and performs measurements of traffic control devices to ensure compliance with departmental standards.

Minimum Qualifications

All you need for success:

• Must be enrolled in a relevant bachelor's or post-bachelor's degree program; for engineering candidates, program must be ABET-accredited.
• Must possess, and maintain, and overall GPA of 2.0 or higher out of 4.0
• Must have completed at least 30 credit hours.
