Job summary

The Office of Attorney General/Law Enforcement Training in Pierre, SD is offering a Summer Intern – Law Enforcement Training position. The intern will coordinate the summer firearms program, update officer training records, and assist LET personnel with training during the Basic Certification Course, along with other office duties.

Qualifications

• APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER.
• Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
• All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
• Positions can be filled prior to the closing date.*

Responsibilities

• The intern will coordinate the summer firearms program, conduct correspondence with departments to update officer training records and update course curriculum, assist LET personnel with training as appropriate during the Basic Certification Course, and other general duties within the office.
• Students with an interest in a law enforcement career and coursework relevant to that career preferred.
