Job summary

South Dakota Department of Public Safety in Pierre, SD invites a Summer internship with the Highway Patrol Training Division. The student intern will support academy logistics, assist with Youth Trooper and Trooper academies, enter and retrieve data, schedule appointments, and draft correspondence under supervision.

Applicants must be enrolled as a part-time or full-time student for the upcoming or immediately preceding semester; preference to juniors/seniors, SD residents, and SD institution

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as a part-time or full-time student in upcoming semester or the immediately preceding semester.
• One year (nine months) of their chosen program completed by start of internship.
• Preference may be given to juniors/seniors, South Dakota residents, and students of SD institutions.

Responsibilities

• Support academy logistics and documentation.
• Assist with Youth Trooper Academy.
• Assist with SDHP Trooper Academy.
• Enter and retrieve data.
• Schedule appointments.
• Draft correspondence, memos, and messages.
• Coordinate with law enforcement instructional staff.
• Work within Records Management System (RMS).
• Shadow troopers working in the field.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.
