Job summary

Office of Attorney General/Law Enforcement Training in Pierre offers a Summer Session internship for the Law Enforcement Training program. The Intern - Law Enforcement Training coordinates the summer firearms program, maintains officer training records, and assists with Basic Certification Course activities.

Applicants must be currently enrolled as a part-time or full-time student and have completed at least one year of study. A background check and drug screening are required.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
• Preference may be given to juniors/seniors, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
• Successful applicant(s) will be required to undergo a background investigation. An arrest/conviction record will not necessarily bar employment. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of a drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the summer firearms program.
• Correspond with departments to update officer training records and update course curriculum.
• Assist LET personnel with training during the Basic Certification Course.
• Perform other general duties within the office.
