Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat offers a 2027 Engineering Summer Internship: Waterfront Engineering – Fast Attack Submarines. Based in Groton, CT, this on-site program places you with the Waterfront Engineering team to tackle real submarine design and testing challenges alongside seasoned engineers.

You will gain hands-on experience across disciplines, work on high-impact projects related to the COLUMBIA and VIRGINIA class programs, and develop practical skills while learning from mentors.

Qualifications

• Enrolled full-time at a College or University.
• Completed at least Freshman year by Summer 2027.
• Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Provide troubleshooting support on submarines and related systems.
• Investigate and document non-conformances; support issue resolution.
• Modify technical manuals and publications as needed.
• Perform calculations and analyses for engineering tasks.
• Communicate with Navy customers via technical submittals.
• Assist in ship testing and maintenance planning.
