Job summary

The South Dakota Department of Public Safety, Highway Patrol Training Division, is seeking an intern for the Summer session in Pierre. This paid internship runs May through August, with a 40-hour work week and a starting pay of $17.80 per hour.

The intern will support academy logistics, assist with Youth Trooper and Trooper Academies, enter data, schedule appointments, draft memos, and coordinate with instructors while gaining hands-on experience in law enforcement operations.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply.

Responsibilities

• Support academy logistics and documentation.
• Assist with Youth Trooper Academy.
• Assist with SDHP Trooper Academy.
• Enter and retrieve data.
• Schedule appointments.
• Draft correspondence, memos, and messages.
• Coordinate with law enforcement instructional staff.
• Work within Records Management System (RMS).
• Shadow troopers working in the field.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.
