State of South Dakota is seeking a Summer Internship in the Highway Patrol Training Division in Pierre, SD. The intern will support academy logistics, enter data, schedule appointments, and draft correspondence for SDHP training programs.

Eligibility requires current enrollment as a part-time or full-time student and completion of one year of study. Preference may be given to junior/senior students, South Dakota residents, and those attending SD institutions.

Qualifications

• Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply.
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
• Preference may be given to applicants who are juniors/seniors, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.

Responsibilities

• Support academy logistics and documentation.
• Assist with Youth Trooper Academy.
• Assist with South Dakota Highway Patrol (SDHP) Trooper Academy.
• Enter and retrieve data.
• Schedule appointments.
• Draft correspondence, memos, and messages.
• Coordinate with law enforcement instructional staff.
• Work within Records Management System (RMS).
• Shadow troopers working in the field.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.

Eligibility

• APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER.

Qualifications
