Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor to lead the engineering team in Buford, GA. You will drive process creation, industrialization of new parts, and optimization of manufacturing layouts to deliver high-quality parts on schedule.

You will manage projects, coordinate with sales, operations and finance, and ensure PFMEA and work instructions are current. Strong leadership and Lean experience are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Manufacturing, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 4 years of professional experience in a similar position or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and delivering complex projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency with PFMEA/Process documentation and process flows.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor Engineering Team Members, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Determine manufacturing processes for customer parts based on prints and R&D inputs.
  • Lead or coordinate engineering projects, including equipment selection and procurement.
  • Analyze and improve manufacturing processes, work methods, and layouts for efficiency and quality.
  • Create/modify PFMEAs and Process Flows; ensure setup instructions are aligned.
  • Oversee machinery, equipment, and utilities to meet operational requirements.
  • Coordinate cross-functional work with sales, operations, and finance.
  • Assist sales teams with technical scope generation and client visits.
  • Perform cost-benefit analyses to optimize resource use and budgets.

Position: Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor

Department: Engineering

Functional Area: Production Engineer

Classification: Exempt

Reporting Structure: Head of Engineering and Technology

Educational Background Required:

  • Completed degree (Bachelor) in Manufacturing, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 4 years of professional experience in a similar position or equivalent combination or education and experience

Essential Functions Required for Job

  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor Engineering Team Members, hold them accountable for performance, and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Process Creation: Determine processes required to manufacture customer part based on prints and information supplied by R&D including pricing related information (Cycle time, # of operators, Tact time, etc.)
    • Leverage internal/external resources to determine equipment or raw material/component pricing when needed
    • Interpret capacity data and monitor to ensure sustained growth and prevent over capacitation of equipment
    • Create Requirements for new equipment and processes
    • Ensure newly acquired equipment is up to local Health, Safety, and Environmental Regulations.
  • Process Industrialization: Lead teams to industrialize new parts & projects.
  • Process Optimization: Analyze and improve manufacturing processes, work methods, and layouts to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Process Standardization: Generate and implement standardized processes and use them to accomplish tasks
  • Process Documentation: Create/modify pFMEA’s and Process Flows for new and existing business and ensure continuity with work/set-up instructions.
  • Operational Oversight: Ensure machinery, equipment, and utilities function properly and meet operational requirements.
  • Project Management: Lead or coordinate engineering projects, including equipment selection and procurement, scope definition, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with other departments (sales, operations, finance) to align engineering solutions with business needs
  • Assistsales teams with technical scope generation and client visits
  • Performcost-benefit analyses to ensure efficient use of resources
  • Coordinatework measurement and process redesign for new customer projects
  • Other duties as assigned.
