Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Co offers a paid Summer Intern role in Control Systems Engineering, based in Warrendale with hybrid work at Cranberry. The internship runs May through August 2027, reporting to the Control & Information System Engineering Manager.

As an intern, you will interpret requirements, design and test Instrumentation & Controls plant systems for nuclear power generation, develop design specs, and assist with field changes and startup activities.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical, or nuclear engineering.
• Completed Sophomore year of college

Responsibilities

• Interpret functional requirements for Instrumentation & Controls Plant Systems
• Design, document and test I&C Plant Systems used for Nuclear Power Generation Stations applications
• Develop I&C design specifications to meet functional requirements
• Implement I&C hardware and software designs to meet design specifications
• Develop design documents, test plans and procedures to demonstrate that designs meet design specifications and requirements
• Create and issue Field Change Notices to site to support hardware and software modifications
• Resolve technical issues that arise during system design, implementation and site commissioning/startup
• Support manufacturing operations to facilitate procurement, manufacturing process, testing and integration of I&C Plant Systems during Software In-Loop and Factory Acceptance Testing
• Support field operations during site commissioning and startup activitiesProvide cost and schedule estimates to support subject matter experts

Education

Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical, or nuclear engineering

About the role:

As a Control Systems Engineering intern, you will report to the Control & Information System Engineering Manager and be located at our Warrendale and Cranberry facilities. This is a paid full-time hybrid position for the summer, May - August 2027.

Key Responsibilities:

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The hourly rate for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $25.40 to $29.00 per hour.
