Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Control System Platforms & Standards intern for a paid summer position in Warrendale, PA. This full-time hybrid role runs May–August 2027 and reports to the Control & Information System Engineering Manager.

You will design, document and test l&C Plant Systems for Nuclear Power Generation, implement hardware/software designs, develop test plans, and assist with field startup and manufacturing support.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, nuclear, or computer engineering.
• Completed Sophomore year of college.

Responsibilities

• Design, document and test l&C Plant Systems used for Nuclear Power Generation Stations applications.
• Implement l&C hardware and software designs to meet design specifications.
• Develop design documents, test plans and procedures to demonstrate that designs meet design specifications and requirements.
• Create and issue Field Change Notices to site to support hardware and software modifications.
• Resolve technical issues that arise during system design, implementation and site commissioning/startup.
• Support manufacturing operations to facilitate procurement, manufacturing process, testing and integration of l&C Plant Systems during Software In-Loop and Factory Acceptance Testing.
• Support field operations during site commissioning and startup activities.
• Work with Supply Chain Management, manufacturing, outside vendors and other departments impacted by l&C Plant systems design & development.

About the role:

As a Control System Platforms & Standards intern, you will be part of a dynamic team and contribute to the development of technical products and systems.

You will report to the Control & Information System Engineering Manager and be located at our Warrendale, PA facility. This is a paid full-time hybrid position for the summer, May - August 2027.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, document and test l&C Plant Systems used for Nuclear Power Generation Stations applications
• Implement l&C hardware and software designs to meet design specifications

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The hourly rate for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $25.40 to $29.00 per hour.
