Job summary

The Caton Companies is seeking an Intern - Human Resources (HR) for Summer 2027 in Charlottesville, VA. The 10-12 week internship starts late May or early June; candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s in HR or a related field, with sophomore level or higher coursework completed.

The HR Intern will support senior HR staff, assist with recruiting, onboarding, employee records, HRIS data entry, background checks, benefits, policies, and employee engagement activities.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's in HR or related field.
• Open to sophomores and above.
• Strong attention to detail and organization.
• Ability to handle confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Assist with recruiting and hiring activities, including posting openings and coordinating interviews.
• Assist with new-hire onboarding and orientation materials.
• Maintain employee records and HR files with accuracy.
• Enter employee data in the HRIS and systems.
• Coordinate background checks and pre-employment verifications.
• Support benefits enrollment and respond to routine questions.
• Maintain HR policies, forms, and training materials.
