Job summary

The Caton Companies are seeking a Summer 2027 Human Resources Intern to support the HR team in Charlottesville, VA. The 10-12 week internship starts late May or early June 2027 and requires pursuing a Bachelor's degree in HR or related field, with sophomore level coursework acceptable.

Responsibilities include assisting with recruiting, onboarding, employee records, data entry, background checks, benefits administration, policy maintenance, and HR reporting.

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in HR or related field.
• Open to students who have completed sophomore level classes and above.

Responsibilities

• Assist with recruiting and hiring activities including posting jobs and scheduling interviews.
• Assist with new-hire onboarding and orientation materials.
• Maintain employee records and HR files with accuracy.
• Assist with HR data entry in HRIS and systems.
• Coordinate background checks and pre-employment verifications.
• Support benefits administration and answer routine questions.
• Help update HR policies, forms, and training materials.
• Support employee engagement activities and company events.
• Prepare HR reports, spreadsheets, and presentations.
• Assist with HR compliance and recordkeeping.
• Support offboarding activities and exit processes.
• Respond to routine inquiries from employees and managers.
• Conduct HR topic research and workplace initiatives.
• Perform general administrative duties and maintain confidentiality.
