Job summary

The Caton Companies in Charlottesville, VA, is offering a Summer 2027 HR Intern position for a 10-12 week internship beginning late May or early June 2027. You will support the senior HR team with recruiting, onboarding, HR records, HRIS data entry, background checks, benefits, and policy updates.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field.
• Open to sophomores and above who are enrolled in a degree program.
• Strong organizational and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with recruiting and hiring activities, posting openings, reviewing applications, scheduling interviews, and candidate communications.
• Assist with new-hire onboarding, orientation materials, and onboarding coordination.
• Maintain employee records and HR files with accuracy.
• Enter employee data in the HRIS and other HR systems.
• Coordinate background checks, employment verifications, and pre-employment requirements.
• Assist with benefits administration and respond to routine employee questions.
• Help update HR policies, forms, procedures, and training materials.
• Support employee engagement activities and company events.
• Prepare HR reports, spreadsheets, and presentations as requested.
• Assist with HR compliance and recordkeeping, audits as needed.
• Support offboarding activities and exit processes.
• Respond to routine employee and manager inquiries.
