Job summary

The Caton Companies in Charlottesville, Virginia is seeking a Summer 2027 Human Resources Intern to support the HR team for 10-12 weeks starting late May or early June 2027. You must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or related field.

You will assist with recruiting, onboarding, employee records, HRIS data entry, background checks, benefits, policies, training materials, employee engagement, and HR reporting while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or related field.
• Open to students who have completed sophomore level classes and above.

Responsibilities

• Assist with recruiting and hiring activities, including posting openings, reviewing applications, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates.
• Assist with new-hire onboarding, including preparing orientation materials and coordinating onboarding activities.
• Maintain and update employee records and HR files, ensuring accuracy.
• Assist with employee data entry in the HRIS and other HR systems.
• Coordinate background checks, employment verifications, and other pre-employment requirements.
• Assist with benefits administration and responding to routine employee questions.
• Help maintain HR policies, forms, procedures, and training materials.
• Assist with employee engagement activities and company events.
• Prepare HR reports, spreadsheets, and other documents as requested.
• Assist with HR compliance and recordkeeping, and assist with offboarding activities.
