Job summary

NiSource invites applications for a Summer Engineering Generation Intern for a 12-week program starting May 2027. The role is based in Wheatfield, IN or Michigan City, IN, with a 40-hour onsite workweek and eligibility within 50 miles of the reporting location.

You will gain experience in power generation, engineering support, and compliance training while collaborating with peers and NiSource leaders on meaningful projects.

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing a four-year degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Education or Technology.
• Must have completed at least one year of undergraduate study.
• GPA 3.0 or above and ability to work 40 hrs/week onsite during the summer.

Responsibilities

• Assist with permits, job orders, materials procurement and invoicing.
• Maintain and monitor project files for accuracy and completeness.
• Support planning, estimating, scheduling, risk analysis and land/engineering agreements.
• Assist with bid packets and contractor selection for projects.
• Ensure projects comply with codes and provide safe, reliable service.
