Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. offers a paid Summer Internship Program for Embedded Software Engineering. The 12‑week, onsite program pairs interns with AV engineers to design, develop, and test embedded software for unmanned aerial and robotic systems.

You’ll work on real‑world development across microcontrollers, processors, and flight‑level hardware. You’ll gain hands‑on experience from prototyping to testing and validation, while learning industry practices in embedded software and collaborating with

Qualifications

• Pursuing or holding a degree in a related field (CS/EE/CE).
• Basic knowledge of embedded systems and microcontrollers.
• Familiar with C, C++, or Python.
• Understanding of memory management, interrupts, or device drivers.
• Exposure to I2C, SPI, UART, or CAN.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist in writing and testing embedded software for autopilots, sensors, radios, and onboard components.
• Implement software in C/C++ for real‑time and bare‑metal systems.
• Support integration of software with hardware using lab tools.
• Collaborate with electrical, systems, and mechanical engineers.
• Participate in peer reviews, documentation, and configuration management.
• Contribute to lab and field testing of embedded systems for real‑world missions.
• Help develop prototypes and proofs‑of‑concept.
