Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking an Embedded Software Engineering Intern for a 12-week, onsite Summer Internship Program. You will work with experienced engineers to design, develop, and test embedded software for unmanned aerial and robotic systems.

Responsibilities include writing C/C++ code for real-time and bare‑metal platforms, hardware–software integration, and participation in peer reviews. Applicants must be enrolled in a related bachelor’s or master’s program with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a related bachelor’s or master’s degree.
• Basic embedded systems and microcontroller knowledge.
• Familiar with C, C++ or Python.
• Understanding memory, interrupts, drivers, etc.
• Exposure to I2C, SPI, UART or CAN.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in writing and testing embedded software for autopilots, sensors, radios, and onboard components.
• Help implement software in C/C++ for real-time and bare-metal systems.
• Support hardware integration with debugging using lab tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineers to ensure cohesive development.
• Participate in peer reviews, documentation, and configuration management.
• Contribute to lab and field testing of embedded systems.
• Assist in prototypes and proof‑of‑concept demonstrations.
