Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. invites students pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health, or related fields to apply for its 2027 Summer Construction Safety Internship.

This 10+ week program runs 40 hours per week and offers hands-on safety experience on active projects. Interns will support and monitor safety efforts, help enforce the Site-Specific Safety Manual, and assist with onboarding, PPE, and safety inspections.

Qualifications

• Students pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health, or related major.
• Must have a genuine interest in a Construction Safety career.
• Willingness to relocate/commute for internship duration and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Support and monitor safety efforts of subcontractors and McCarthy employees.
• Ensure Site-Specific Safety Manual procedures are implemented on site.
• Assist with onboarding of new hires and subcontractors into the safety culture.
• Coordinate with supervision to ensure PPE, materials, and documents are available.
• Assist in safety investigations, inspections, and corrective actions.
