McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is offering a 10+ week Construction Safety Internship for students pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health, or related majors.

Interns will gain hands-on experience and work a 40-hour week during the summer. Responsibilities include supporting safety efforts, ensuring site safety procedures are followed, and helping with new hire safety documentation.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Masters in Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health, or related major.
• Interest in pursuing a career in Construction Safety.
• Willingness to relocate or commute for the internship duration.

Responsibilities

• Support and monitor safety efforts of subcontractors and McCarthy employees, conducting toolbox meetings weekly and enforcing safety guidelines.
• Ensure that the procedures outlined in the Site-Specific Safety Manual are implemented on the project site.
• Assist with issuing new hire safety documents and integrate new employees and subcontractors into the McCarthy safety culture.
• Coordinate with project supervision to ensure PPE and safety materials are available and posted.
• Participate in investigating accidents, identifying root causes, and assisting in corrective actions and inspections.
