Job summary

University of Virginia is seeking Conference Supervisors to assist in planning and supervising the 2027 summer conference season. Responsibilities include managing StarRez data, coordinating logistics, and leading a summer student team.

Offices run spring semester with a busy summer schedule; expect flexible hours, weekend rotations, and potential holiday shifts. Training and hiring involvement are included, with opportunities to mentor staff and ensure high-quality client service.

Qualifications

• Must be a full-time UVA undergraduate student in good standing.
• Previous leadership experience is highly preferred.
• Ability to work in a team and hold peers accountable.
• Strong customer service, prioritization, and organizational skills required.
• Self-motivated with capacity for self-directed work and problem-solving.
• Flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to use word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, and other software.
• May be required to lift up to 25 pounds.
• A valid U.S. Driver’s License with positive point balance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage information in StarRez housing software and maintain client records for billing.
• Communicate with clients to ensure timely rosters, guarantees and documentation.
• Work with service partners to meet dining needs and special requests.
• Supervise conference staff for arrivals and departures.
• Print rosters, labels, signage, and other materials.
• Manage linen inventory and distribution as needed.
• Schedule, oversee, and participate in building inspections.
• Organize staff transportation to check-in/out locations.
• Coach and motivate Conference Assistants through example.
• Participate in staff hiring, recruit, interview and train.
• Uphold UVA procedures and policies.
• Attend weekly planning meetings and coordinate with leadership.
• Collaborate with other Supervisors to coordinate daily operations.
• Serve as Supervisor on Duty during shifts and delegate tasks.
• Other duties as assigned.
