Job summary

MacKay is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join our Land Development team in Raton, NM, for 10-12 weeks during the summer of 2027. You will work alongside experienced engineers on real projects across disciplines and gain hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil3D.

You should be currently enrolled in civil engineering or a related program, with a preference for those entering their senior year. This internship offers meaningful work, growth opportunities, and exposure to multiple project

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled or a recent graduate of an accredited Bachelor of Science degree with major coursework in civil engineering, public works, or related engineering discipline, or equivalent in work experience.
• Aptitude and hands-on experience with Civil Engineering software, preferably AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Excellent writing, communication, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop practical experience in solving engineering problems and applying approved methods and standards.
• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, or construction methods for compliance and safety.
• Gain hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil3D.
• Meet deadlines and work closely in a team environment.
• Prepare engineering designs and specifications for project portions with accuracy and timeliness.
• Assist in cost estimates with quantities and material costs to determine feasibility.
