Job summary

Stantec in Des Moines, IA is offering a Summer 2027 Civil Engineering internship within our Community Development Group. This role provides hands-on experience in a dynamic design team, CAD drafting, and preparation of construction documents.

Interns will inspect sites for compliance, assist with plans and reports, procure permits, and communicate with staff, clients, and stakeholders. Currently enrolled civil engineering students with strong communication and independent work ethic are

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Exposure to planning, design, construction, infrastructure concepts.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Use technical and communication abilities to complete the civil component of a wide variety of projects in a dynamic design team setting.
• Inspect construction sites for compliance with project documents and engineering principles.
• Assist with preparation of plans and specifications, reports, and other project deliverables.
• Attend meetings on an as needed basis.
• Complete detailed reports as required.
• Procure permits and other approvals from various agencies.
• Communicate effectively with construction and engineering staff, clients, and other project stakeholders.
• Assist with CAD drafting and design, and preparation of construction documents.
