Job summary

Stantec is now accepting applications for Summer 2027 Civil Engineering interns in our Community Development Group across Minnesota locations (Twin Cities, St. Cloud, Rochester). You’ll gain real-world, hands-on experience on outdoor construction activities and exposure to urban design, roadways, and infrastructure projects.

You will work with experienced practitioners, develop practical skills, and build a network to support future success while collaborating with clients and communities.

Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Requires understanding of basic AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and general surveying
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Strong interest in serving municipalities with their infrastructure needs
• Good organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, take direction, and work independently
• Ability to work in outdoor conditions and be physically capable of navigating rugged terrain for the purpose of performing the duties outlined above
• Must have reliable transportation to go to and from job sites, good driving record, and valid driver’s license
• You will be reimbursed for business-related travel and expenses

Responsibilities

• Use technical and communication abilities to assist with completing the civil component of a wide variety of projects in a dynamic design team setting
• Perform construction observation for project compliance with project documents and engineering principles
• Perform construction administration duties including documenting construction activities, measuring materials, coordinating materials testing, reviewing shop drawings, and providing general project oversight
• Complete detailed reports as required
• Assist with construction surveying/staking as needed
• Communicate effectively with construction and engineering staff, clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders
• Office duties if available may include assisting with CAD drafting and design, and preparation of plans and specifications, reports, and other project deliverables
